This piece by the Baroque composer J. S. Bach is the first prelude in his book The Well-Tempered Clavier. Although originally written for a keyboard instrument, the arpeggiated chords are idiomatic to the harp, and the piece makes a beautiful harp solo.
The Bach-Gounod "Ave Maria" sets the Latin text to a melody superimposed over this prelude. It is a favorite for weddings (especially Catholic Nuptial Masses), religious services, and funerals.
This piece can be played on pedal harp only.
